I have the very beginnings of arthritis. My doc didn't give me much info but from what I've read, I suppose Oestoarthritis. My left knee is the worst culprit. Always a very small discomfort, sometimes a more irritating pain and, at times, it really does hurt fairly bad. About the only thing the doc did tell me was that if I could build up the muscles in my quads it would help the knee. Ok. I am very out of shape and overweight but I used to enjoy weight lifting (circuits-not heavy duty) and I like to walk. I now have a weight machine (a Bowflex). My problem and QUESTION ... I seem to make my knee WORSE when I exercise more than once or twice in a week. Now, if I could know that I'm not harming it, I can work through the pain. It's not THAT intense. But I really do not want to make it worse. Where can I go to get information on the RIGHT way to build the quad muscles without harming the knee? Thanks for any input.
