: I am 20 years old still suffering from JRA. I've been diagnosed since I was in 6th grade and have tried almost every medicine I've heard about on the boards here. I'm currently on methotrexate, but have constant flare-ups. I've also been on prednisone, plaquenil, gold shots, and naprosone. Today I was given infomation from my rheumatologist about Enbrel and I need to make a decision soon. I'm really nervous about it since it's been out for such a short time and about long term side effects, especially since I'm so young. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm in college and really want to get my RA under control before I go back to school this fall. Is this medicine worth while? What about any other medications? I need to know soon...
Hi, Just read your E-mail...my question to you is how much Prednisone do you take? I have been on it for years (9) I started at 5mg and now am on 20mgs per day...it works for me...just to stop the pain...I have tried EVERYTHING on the market like Celebrex, Vioxx, Enbrel, Methotrexate, Relafen, etc. etc. etc. I now have been on ARAVA for two months...I think it might be working just a little...I still have some pain in the mornings and when I wake up if I take a nap during the day...I would suggest you try it before you try all the other drugs I did...just a suggestion....
good luck MKalyn :)
