: my nurse practioner thinks i have a bakers cyst on the back of knee. it does not bother me much during the day, but does bother me at night when i'm sleeping. every time i move in bed the pain in the back of my knee wakes me. my NP has very little advice. does anyone else have this problem? does anyone have suggestions for treatment so i can get some sleep?

I also have a baker's cyst on the back of my knee. Don't let anyone talk you into removing it with surgery because I did that and ended up with a very bad infection and had to be treated with antibiotics by mouth and intravenously only to get another cyst in the same place again. Baker's cysts come about when you have arthritis in your knee so sometimes using an antiinflammatory rub on the top of your knee and sleeping with a pillow between your knees will sometimes help. I hope this helps you.
