as a pharmacology student, i can tell you both from multiple lectures on cox-2 technology that these drugs are remarkably safer when looking at GI toxicity. Their difference are seen primarily in their excretion. Vioxx tends to have more trouble being excreted than Celebrex which is why edema (primarily lower extremity edema) was higher than Celebrex. That is not to say it can't happen with celebrex, just less of a chance. You should see you Dr. if you need more information.
