: Hi I am comming up to one year with what my doctor says is tennis elbow, but to me it feels like all of my elbow joint is inflamed not just the outside of elbow it feels like all the muscels and tendons that join the elbow are causing the pain together with very stiff forearm muscels going all the way down to my hand,I had one cortozone shot which seemed to cure me for 5weeks but it came back just as bad,I did get some relief from Diclofenic but this drug just blocked my stomach up so it was changed to indometacin 50mg which does not touch it I have to work through the pain as a bricklayer i have tried 4weeks rest but as soon as I returned to work it came back Please can anyone give me advice the doctor just says get a lighter job but I live in the real world please any ideas welcome

Sorry, paul,
I can't tell you what you want to hear. I can tell you, however, that I also got tennis elbow, about 25 years ago. The doc and I tried short rests for the arm, such as you've just gone through, and a cortisone shot in the elbow---which helped a lot but only for about 3 weeks. Finally, my doc told me that tendonitis is sometimes very difficult to get over, especially if you continue to abuse the injury, and then he told me what we had to do to get a "hopefully" permanent fix. So, he gave me another cortisone shot, and put my entire arm in a tray cast---that's an arms length tray, something like the bottom half of a regular cast---then he wrapped my entire arm and half cast, with an ace bandage, and said wear this for 6 months and take it off only to wash your arm or take a shower, or, if you want to, when you are at complete rest as when sitting in an arm chair. Six months later I was well...,beau
