RE: prednisone and plaquenil. I took my mother to a rheumatologist about 2 1/2 yrs ago. She was in a lot of pain-mostly her hands and wrists. Dr. prescribed Prednisone and Plaquenil. He said the prednisone would help until the plaquenil kicked in--about 6 wks, I think. Well, it is 2 1/2 yrs and my mom is still taking both. She does mess around with the dosage. Some days she will take 1/2 prednisone and 2 plaquenil. Then she really is in bad shape the next morning. She can barely get out of bed and walk to the bathrm. She finally stopped fooling around with the dosage. But the Dr. put her on methotrexate also. 3 pills one day per wk for 6 wks. Some days she feels good and other days I feel like taking her to a different dr. She also started herself on MSM. I believe that is the drug James Coburn used. Over the counter. It has not helped her. Now, I must say she is taking the lowest doses of pred and plaq. I don't know what to do for her anymore. I do know the drugs helped her within the first 4 days.
I hope you get this. Carol
