: Does anyone know, could an arthritic spine or a bulging disc cause weakness in the legs?
: Thanks.

Hi:

My mother has a "herniated" disk in her spine and it affects her leg, both with reflex (her knee and ankle didn't "kick" when hit with the little hammer), and also has had it go out from under her once or twice, once causing a scary fall on the pavement.
She's had MRIs to determine if she indeed has the herniated disk, as the PCP really is convinced that the reflex symptoms and the pain she experienced with exam = herination. She will then have a series of injections at a pain managment clinic at her local Hospital.
Hope this helped.
