: I, Dutch woman, age 50 years, was diagnosed with Bakers cyst and also with a light form of arthtitis in my right knee. What I want to know is: can anyone tell me if the one (cyst) is a result of the other (arthritis)? What is the conjunction bewteen these two diseases? Hope to get an answer soon!
I was diagnosed with a Bakers cyst in my left knee 17 years ago, it caused some pain and leakage of fluid into my calf. However it seemed to shrink and left me for a while. Then 2 years ago I was diagnosed with RA after being really ill
and bedbound with what I thought was an extremely vicious 'flu. The RA has worsened I have it in multiple joints and the bakers cyst is back. My Rheumatologist told me that there is a definite link with RA and this type of cyst. Looking back now I realise that I probably had symptoms of RA for many years but I was lucky that they were not as painful/life changing as they are now.Good luck to you maybe your cyst will recede
