Hi, Linda. How old is "too young"? My son (22) is having a hip replacement soon, due to
arthritis. His other hip was replaced earlier this year. I've read about other procedures
in older books (I think it involved shaping the bone), but it appears that, for him, the HR is the
best option. One doc says that an artificial hip lasts 10-15 years before it may need to be
redone. However, another specialist indicates ALOT longer. Really depends on the age and
activity level of the patient. We're hoping for a very long time span.
