: i'm looking for any ideas on jobs or careers that my arthritic body could handle. how do others deal with combining work with arthritis?

The hand surgeon just put me off work. When I asked how lon,he said months. He gave me the off work for six weeks and saidd that he would renew it then for another 6 weeks. My fingers are swollen and there is no cartilige between the joints. The Dr. says I can't work ,but he down't tell how I'm suppose to pay my bills while I'm off work. Or what kind of job I can do without using my hands. I am told that writing and typing on the computer is not a good thing. I'm depressed and angry. My family seems to think that I am making this up. even though they can look at my hands and see the deformities. I am going to look into adaptive devices and talk to someone at Vocational Rehabilitation. Other than that, I'm not sure. Any ideas would be appreciated. Pat Q.
