: First some history. Diagnosed at age 25..now 32. My wrists and ankles are my main problems. My last wrist xray showed severe arthritic changes and erosion of bone! My doc. recommends having Wrist surgery..basically debulking and debriding of the wrists and cleaning! Sounds terrible! He said to think about it..and make some decisions!
: Well, i work at a computer daily and I wonder if this is not work related also? If i stopped working, would the disease progress as quickly?
: I am not really gung=ho on having major surgery to my wrists. I have 3 young children..and 1 demanding hubby! LOL
: Anybody who has thought about surgery of this kind or has any thoughts please respond!!
: thanks,

Hi Katie
I had the wrist surgery you're describing in March of this year. The procedure was very interesting; I chose to stay awake and watch. I have lupus and arthritis, and I had the surgery because I am losing the capability of holding objects and am in pain all the time. I had it done at the Hand Center in Indianapolis. I still have problems with it, but the swelling in my forearm has lessened. I also just received a cortisone injection in my wrist. Good luck and let me know what you decide!
