: : Hi, I just started taking Arava one week and I wanted to know if anyone out there knew how long this drug takes to help
: : : with the inflammation and pain. Also, whatever other things anyone can tell me about this drug and what happen
: : : to them while they were taking it.
: : i have been taking arava for a year and have not hade much luck ihave had ra for a year i have still had to take medrol with the arava and am still having flairs when i first started arava i felt like i had the flu for the first couple monthes then i had a lot of hair loss those where realy the only side effects i had my doctor is starting me on enbrel now .
: Hi Jen, maybe some good news for u, I have severe ra and have tried everythng except enbrel, but I expect to be on that by 6/19/00. So back 2 Arava, I started it 9 months ago, it took 30 days for me to see some very positive results! as a matter of fact I beleive if I had had Arava in the begining of my ra (7 &1/2yrs) ago I would not be as deformed as I am now. I am on 100 % disability now and still going downhill slowly, back to the topic, Arava, for 6 months I felt better than ever before, and I currently take methotrexate, prednisone, plaquanil, and Motrin. I took all these with Arava! Now the bad news I had to be taken off Arava when I developed severe diarrhea. So soon I'll try enbrel. Good Luck! WG
Hi...I too am on arava...have to say its been very helpful for me..I aso take tolmetin..diarrhea is a side effect, Ive been lucky with that...Methotrexate was bad for me and several others also not good...so far its been working pretty well, so I wish you luck with it..Terri
