My daughter has JRA in her eyes- she is 23 - it was diagnosed when she was ten. She has had lensectomy in both eyes and a barvelt implant for glacoma in her right eye and has been on mexthotrexate( she lost sown to 73 pounds so we took her off and is now on embrel - injections.
I am so sorry to hear of your friends problem- it is a long road and it is very hard- there are good doctors- at this early stage the doctor may suggest sterriod injections sbustatainiously. We are in Arkansas but have traveled to St Louis, Boston and Washington DC for treatments. My daughter still has sight but it is a battle- we are fighting this disease very aggressively. Many children at Arkansas Children's Hospital are on Embrel and are seeing some results. The National Institute of Health said that the only reason my daughter still has sight is the excellent care she has received. The main thing is to trust the doctor.Goood luck and Godspeed. Patricia
