: I am a 54 year old male diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in 1970. It seems to have been a strange case over the years as it has gone into "remission" for as long as four or five years. I have taken most of the older NSAIDs over the years--had some luck for a few years with Clinoril, but it stopped working. have taken oral gold and prednisone most recently. Tried Celebrex with terrible results. It has been getting much worse over the past month and I am now experiencing a lot of pain and getting a little depressed. My Rheumatologist mentioned Methatrexate as a "next step." I am ready to try something serious and would like to know some experiences and side effects. Thanks.
I have been on Methotrexate for 1 yr.It was like becomming a new woman.I started on 3 pills every Friday now I'm at 7 pills every friday.I also take 5mg. of prednzone every morning.I tried to go off the prednazone but got real bad again. So I still have trouble from time to time.I went back to 5mg.and went from 6 to 7 of methotrexate.I'm doing just fine alittle nautious at first but getting used to it.I can walk and lift my arms.So yes I improved on it.I am 34 female diagnosed 1 yr. ago
