Hi Missie. I am also in Oz, and, like your B/F, I take Becotide. I am also classified as a mild asthmatic, have never been hospitalised due to asthma. Becotide is classed as a preventative drug, rather than treatment for an attack, which ventolin is. Ventolin is not the answer to controlled asthma and should not be the only medication for an asthmatic mild or otherwise. Your b/f should have no problem with becotide, although it can cause thrush in the mouth :(, jsut make sure he rinses his mouth, and make sure he takes it daily as directed. it will NOT work if taken during an attack.
