: I read here on the board that the symptoms are the same for autism but can anyone tell me what the first step is in finding out if my son is suffering from metal poison?

REPLY; The first step is getting a medcal person who will believe you. The basic test is by a hair sample. Blood tests aren't accurate because they only show the amount of heavy metals (now) circulating or from recent exposures. Hair will show a deposited tye. Mercury often isn't shown in the hair tests but is revealed by the types of heavy metals that do show up. Mercury digs into the cells and so unless it's a recent or constant exposure, it wouldn't be revealed in blood either. It is also accumulative. For info on the mercury and symptoms, see thw Autism Research Institute site at www.autism.com/ari As to other metals, I don't have a site off hand but think the mercury on will be startling enough for today.
