Is he prescribing this just to keep infection away? I would be afraid that it would kill too much of the healthy flora in his intestines and that a yeast problem could occur if it is not there already. I thought maybe he was going with vancomycin because there was some press out there a while back about progress that was being made after some children were given this antibiotic.
: This strep may be common with allergies in general, I'm not sure. I had never heard of it. He prescribed amoxylcillin three times a day with two allergy meds. : Is this strep common in autistic children with severe allergies or allergies in general? What kind of antibiotic did he prescribe? Is it vancomycin? I am just curious because I have never heard anything about a strep that is common to autistic children. However, Joe gets strep infections about once or twice a year.
: : I am hoping that his being on the gfcf diet will keep him from getting infections this winter.

: : : My son recently went to an allergy specialist to have test. The doctor is also testing for foods (related to autism). My son gets very sick with high fevers. The doctor said that there is a strep common in autistics with severe allergies. We are now on a six month round of antibiotics. Does anyone know anything about this or has any loved one with this problem?
