But I don't think that the reason schools like it better is because it is children friendly. That is an added plus that I think they are not really concerned about. I think they like it because it is far less demanding upon the teacher than DTT, and that it does not require 1:1 like Lovaas. Also Floortime is less rigidly structured than Lovaas, and so it would be easier for teachers to"wing it" if they are not so very organized.
I don't think any one method can be used to the exclusion of others, and it is my one big gripe with Lovaas (I care not that he has an inflated sense of self) is that he did not allow for any complimentary therapies to be involved (ok, he was running controlled trials), or medical interventions either. Those of us who have spent time researching effective practices and/or run the gauntlet of trial and error realize that these other methods are also a vital part of the mix if our children are going to improve.
