Our daughter was born 6 weeks premature. At 8 weeks we were advised by our GP that she was to have her first Dtp vaccine. She reated with a fever and a swelling around the injection site, but appeared normal several days later. I have now read that the manufacturers guidelines state that premature babies should not be given the vaccine. The health visitor giving the jab did not advise us of this even after repeated questions on its saftey.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Has anyone any suggestions of what I should do?
Is it correct that premature babies should not be given the vaccine?
Are there particular effects if a prem baby is given the vaccine?
