: i have a 4 year old autisic boy. never before did he bite, just hair pulling. now he is biting others and himself, sometimes very badly. any advice?

I also have a 4 year old in the same situation. Our suspician is that he is having problems with his stomach/digestion and that the biting and hair pulling is his way of dealing with the pain when to many demands are put on him while he is not feeling well. There is an over the counter infants Gas reducing medication that seems to help. We are setting up an appointment with a Pediatric GI doctor who has lots of experience with autism(a regular Ped GI doc may not help much, especially if with an HMO). The problem is that it takes a long time to get an appointment date. Meanwhile, our DAN doctor is trying to help.
