My name is Leslie Johnson. Iím a Lesley University graduate student studying assistive communication technology and programs that bring the technology and accompanying services to users. As part of my study, Iím looking for feedback from individuals who are using or are considering using assistive communication technology. I would be very appreciative if you could answer the following questions and either post the feedback or e-mail it to me. If you would like to confirm that I am a student and I am doing this work for study purposes, I will give you my program advisorís name and contact information on request. Thank you so much!
1. Do you feel that The System is efficiently, comprehensively, and affordably meeting your needs for assistive communication technology and services? (The System could encompass such entities as schools, assisted living services, government programs, and health insurance.)
2. What do you feel are the strengths and weaknesses of the system and/or parts of the system?
3. If you had the power to improve the system, what changes would you make, if any?
4. For my thesis project, I am considering building a dynamic Web site that would allow users to trade, lend, and sell used and new assistive communication technology. The site would also include other features, such as a collection of informative reports about the technology as it evolves and about assistive technology in general; government updates; advocacy information; and a bulletin board for users to share their experiences using the technology. The Web site would act independently, not operating on behalf of brand names and for-profit services. My hope is that the site would be used worldwide. Do you think you might be able to benefit from such a Web site? Do you have any suggestions for what you would like to see in such a Web site?
