My son has had three injections of secretin ranging in doseage from 2 to 2.5 units per kilo of body weight. After the first injection, he had an immediate improvement in eye contact, following verbal instructions, patience, interaction with me (I've always been a distant second to mom as far as interaction with my son) so much so that he learned to swim within three days of the injection!!! Unfortunately, he developed an otitis/sinusitis about one week after the first injection and all gains were lost within 48 hours (though he still swims). The second and third injections were given at three to five weeks intervals - and there was no improvement at all. I feel crushed at this point, we still have a fourth vial in the doctor's freezer (which has to be stored at 0 degrees farenheit (minus 20 celcius), and I will proceed with a 3 unit per kilo dose - but deep in my heart, I doubt it will work. It has been four months since the last injection. I am puzzled and bewildered as to the great response on the first injection and total failure of the next two. It was nice to have a son who wanted to cuddle with me - even if only for a week. If anyone has any first-hand experience with repeated secretin injections at the mentioned doses, I would like some guidance and advice on whether I stop with number 4 or continue. It is not inexpensive and very difficult to obtain (which I have done from reputable sources). Thanks for your input in advance.
