I am aware of the term autistic savant. It is used to describe someone who has autism who has an area of exceptional ability but I am assuming this is not the same as savant syndrome. The term syndrome seems to indicate that has associated signs and symptoms which are typical accross the board and can be used by a clinician for diagnostic purposes.

I have never heard it describe this way - do you have a reference for it?
