I have been getting my 3 year old autistic son together with two higher functioning boys diagnosed as Pdd/nos (who are also 3) two days a week for the last week and a half. their mothers and I take the boys to the park, the indoor playground, anywhere where there's lots of other kids. I have to work with my son hand over hand to play ball, climb the playground apparatus, and go down the slides. My son will cling to me and cry for at least 20 minutes once we get there, then he'll loosen up and start enjoying himself. We live in lebanon county PA and there is no such thing here as "social skills therapy", so we decided to do our own for our sons. However, when we returned home from a picnic this weekend that my son cried through the whole 3 hours we were there his stimming (biting clothes, clapping hard), eye contact, and focus has been worse than ever. He will go through days of being focused and sociable, then go through a couple days of being the opposite. I just can't figure it out. he is on the gf/cf diet, the feingold diet, and the special foods elimination/rotation diet which we are getting good results from (he is sensitive to almost everything). Does anyone have any ideas what is causing his backslides? Thanks! tish
