Todd and Stephanie,

Consumer Reports had an article about it in the past and recommended 2 products: Either the anti-acid Tums or Posture-D Calcium. We have personal great experience with both. Tums are sweet and will be friendly to kids because they come in chewable color pills. However, if sugar is a problem then they are very sweet (the reason we switched to Posture-D. Posture-D pills are hard white and not chewable at all but are easy to powder. I think that it is possible to get them with and w/o added vitamin D in case your child gets vitamin D from another source like cod liver oil or a lot of D from the sun. Both can be purchased at any drugstore.

I hope this helps. If you want to read the article the best in my opinion is to subscribe to Consumer Reports online which will allow you to search their archives in the most efficient way. We subscribe to the hard copy for too many years to even count and (it has been one of the best investments we made) at this time I do not have experience with their website. So make sure to ask when you subscribe if the subscription includes access to old articles (I am sure that the answer is YES).

Take care,
Lana
