Last year I read that some tests were done w/AS kids taking pepcid. I didn't pay much attention. My just turned 5 year old AS son had had a cough for 2 years. Most dr's downplayed it. We tried all sorts of over the counter meds. My wife put her foot down and demanded to see an ear, nose and throat guy. He told us he thought it was acid reflux, and prescribed Zantac. What a difference! The early morning cough is gone as is his "poofy" stomach. Further, he has better eye contact, seems to be more "with it" and is in a cheerfull mood more often (he's never had behavior issues, just pretty non verbal). In fact, he almost gets giggling/hugging spells. He also has been more verbal, saying Doug, Dad, etc. My wife started cheating and giving a 1/2 dose mid afternoon, in addition to the morning and evening doses.
