While I am here I have been missing church and in my hy
urry to catch the plane I also forgot to pack my Bible, there's a small church five minutes walk down the steps in this village but I don't understand what's said, so I started receiving a daily passage from the bible from EMAZING (an internet service, a search should find it easily). It is a comforting, inspiring experience and I'm going to keep it up when I get home. Today's message was especially beautiful and I'd like to share it with you here. As a mother of an autistic child I used to sometimes be very "fearful of heart" of what lay ahead for Emma if I died ahead of her, who would look after her, who would understand her etc. Mostly I would try to block her future out of my mind, sometimes I would dwell on trying to make arrangements for her when she was on her own. This passage arrived for me from AMAZING today:
The Access Bible, NRSV, Old Testament, Page 917
"Say to those who are of a fearful heart, 'Be strong, do
not fear! Here is your God. He will come with vengeance,
with terrible recompense. He will come and save you.'"
And so I do say to every autistic person, child and adult, and every relative of an autistic person, "Be strong, do not fear!..."
