I give my 3 year 7 month old 25mg of B6 and 75mg of magnesium.
I would start with anywhere from 35-45mg of B6 and 150mg of magnesium. You
can always dose up. Some parents have gone as high as 200mg but had to dose
back down to get a desired result. Try a lower dose for a week, check responses
and you can dose up from there.Dr Rimland says to dose 8mg of B6
per kilogram of body weight and 4mg of magnesium per pound of body weight.
. I have read various doses parents use-
One parent told me she used between 15 and 60mg of B6 and 250mg of magnesium.
Higher doses made the child worse-One study states that the more severely
autistic children require the higher doses.Doses too high can cause reversible
nerve damage. Just start low and dose up if needed. This is also what Dr. Rimalnd 's
paper stated: " We suggest starting with 1/4 the target amount and increasing
slowly over a 10 to 14 day peroid. That means the target amount for your child
be 216mg, but they say start with 54mg of B6.. The magnesium
target amount by this would be 240mg with 1/4 being 60mg . I hope this helps.
Can someone give me the correct doses of B6/Mag for a 6 yr old, 50 pound child? Many thanks in advance for your responses.
