In Reply to: How do you mean it's both? If a medical condition is causing the behavior, then it's not psychological... Could you explain your thoughts? thanks posted by Yvonne on September 19, 2000 at 20:39:17:

What I mean is it can be both, sorry to confuse you. My son was born autistic. It was not caused by vaccines, it has nothing to do with his diet, in autistic individuals there is a part of the brain that is larger than none autistic persons. This I believe is part of the medical aspect of autism, along with the other elements that go with being autistic, depending on which part of the spectrum the person is on. For example, another medical aspect would be grand mal seizures that are common in autistic individuals when they reach puberty. But as far as psychological (this is refering to my son) as he began to communicate more readily he would tell you his brain was rewinding, he also thought everyone was staring at him, he was having violent outburst and rages, then within about an hour, maybe sooner after raging, and threatening to kill or injure someone, he will tell you he is sorry, or that he could not help it when he loses control of his emotions. This is why he sees a psychiatrist (sp?) Yours, Angie
