No, I'm fairly sure the writer was just using colorful language, which is a great way to make writing more interesting. The real reason I stepped in was that the note talked about administering medications that could adversely affect one's health. Because of that, I wanted to cut away the exaggeration and introduce some additional precision in the language, so that there would be less uncertainty concerning the reasons for the medication.

So, I wanted to pin down the kind of toxins we talking about.

I'm glad the writer contributed to the dialog. But the more precise we are, the clearer our thinking will be and less likely it will be that we will fall to dangerous hoaxes. (Not to say that nystatin use is incorrect. My own child has a thrush infection.)
