In Reply to: Transdermal Secretin - we have to consider switching from IV administration & I could do with some guidance posted by Jaqui (UK) on September 21, 2000 at 05:35:59:

We changed from IV to transdermal about four months ago and believe that it has been beneficial to our son.

We apply the dose on the inside of his wrist. We first cleanse both wrists with a sterile cleaner and then apply a few drops of DMSO to one wrist using a pipette (spelling?). We take the secretin from the freezer and using a small pharmacy spatula, we apply secretin to the area. It disolves immediately and we then rub the wrists together until the area is dry.

We use a baby steriliser on each occasion for the spatula and pipette and apply approx 1/20th of a vial each time. It does mean that the overall dosage has gone up from the IV (i.e. one vial every 20 days but it seems to work).

Hope this is of some help.

Andrea
