Stewart,
Good luck on your interview. I think that you are amazing trying to go back to work this soon after the fusion and the other surgeries you have dealt with. I have been dealing with back issues off and on for 25 years, so I can tell you from experience that accepting that there are certain things you have to do in a certain (different) way is the first step. It does not mean that you can't achieve goals - you just might have to alter them a lit. I'm going through something similar, because my 1 year medical leave is up the end of the month and I don't think I'm ready to return to work. I'm still taking vicodin (have to pass a drug test) and have not even been cleared for PT yet. I can only be up and about for a few hours and then --major pain. We all have to go through the steps of feeling sorry for ourselves, and then we can pick up the pieces and plug forward. (This takes a lot of physical and emotional energy). I do applaud you and know you'll definitely make it. You (we) are survivors. The best of luck.
