hey catherine-

I'm a 21 year old female with stenosis. My surgeon said it was congenital. I don't think it is a problem unless you have pain. What kind of pain brought you to the doctors to get such a diagnosis?

I had surgery to help with the stenosis (they can widen your canal for you) but at the same time, I had surgery for my discs.

my surgeon said that my narrow canal may be adding to the pressure put on my discs, therefore, speedig up the degenerative processes.

If you have pain from your discs, you might want to try McKenzie therapy..it is a form of PT. Lori, on this board, knows a lot about it (and so does Rick J). Other than that, I only think they operate for stenosis when the pain is really bad.

do you find that your pain is worse when you wake-up in th morning and gets better during the day?

anyway, hope I have been of some help..if only a little.

every good wish-
Dani
