Hi Stewart, I was one those people that took 3 mos to get behind the wheel. I had 2 laminectomies in 2 weeks and I was in a lot of pain for a long time, plus I was on a lot of meds. The main reason though that it took so long for me is because I was soooo afraid. I was afraid that someone who hit my car from behind and my body would jerk, I was afraid I'd have to slam on my breaks and hurt my back. Paranoya at its greatest!!! Besides I have a Suburban and it's not easy climbing in and out of that thing. I did what you did though. Short, small distances for a long time. I think it took me about 6mos to get on the highway. My doctor told me, whenever I felt ready. I dont think you can put a time frame on it, since every body is different. I do think though that 2 weeks would have been too soon for me, especially when I always have to tug three kids along with me. Like you Jill, I doubt you ever get a chance to go for a joy ride alone :o) right?
Take care Jill and Stewart, I hope you two are well. Maria (Bos)
