: I am hoping someone out there can help me decide if these are for me. I was diagnosed years ago with degenerative disc disease in my neck. My new dr. has said that this is an old term and a new MRI has revealed disc protrusion and spurs at C5-C7. She is recommending epidural injections. I really am leary of letting anyone put a needle in my spine once, let alone 3 times. And if the epidural doesn't hurt, does the steroid? My neck pain is manageable, though I do get dizzy sometimes, and don't get much sleep at night, and sometimes I get muscle spasms down my arm. I am just wondering if these injections will be worth it? She says they will relieve some of the pain, and allow healing. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have had 5 operations on my back and I am having my 6th on Nov. 17th. Over the last 15 years, I have probably had 10 or more injections. The relief they provide can last from a few days to a few months. Some people get complete relief from them and never need surgery. I would definetly give the injections a shot( no pun intended). You may be one of the fortunate ones that get all the pain relief they will ever need from the injections. Best of luck to you.
