In Reply to: Has anyone had these symptoms... posted by Linda on November 05, 2000 at 08:41:22:

Hi Linda, believe me you are not alone with your problems. I have several herniated discs in my neck also with one compressing the spinal cord. I have the numbness, tingling, weakness and the severe headaches that go with them.

What you should be most concerned with is the "off balance", "ringing in the ears" and your facial nerves. All this does not happen from just a herniated disc on the c levels. This is something that would occur from a blow on the head like you said happened to you. I would go to another neuro surgeon or a doctor who deals with possible brain disorders or trauma to the brain area. Something most definitely happened somewhere from this blow and it is going undetected. A head cannot possibly "fall asleep" from damaged cervical discs, you should only be getting headaches at the most as a result of the damage at C5/6. Spasms in the neck do not cause a person to become unbalanced, nor not use that info. for balance nor does it effect vision. These symptoms all relate to head trauma of sorts.

Please see a specialist so that you may be treated properly instead of having these docs. play guessing games with you. Something is going unseen and undiagnosed in your situation aside from the disc herniation/spur. Please keep us posted and be well
