I read your post to Pat and I agree. Most doctors have told me that the disc is not causing my problems because all my symptoms are in my head. That is why to this date, I have avoided surgery. The other thing that concerns me about the weakness in my hands and arms is there is no pain or tingling. I was told I don't have MS because my brain scan is normal. Although I feel very weak, my neuro says he finds no loss of strength. It's actually more a feeling of fatigue. I have explored the internet from top to bottom trying to self dx myself. I have come up with some interesting things but nothing that ties everything together and I believe it in some way is all connected. I found a disease called Hirayama disease, which causes atrophy in the hands from pressure on the cervical cord. It is very rare and most prevelant in asia. There is also still a chance that my inner ears are causing the head symptoms. I have a lot of tests with different results so it's hard to know which ones were acurate. I am also aware that fasciculations and muscle weakness are the main symptoms of ALS, so that's very scary. I just sit and wait. Hoping that one day I can put this nightmare to rest. Thanks again for your help. Linda
