hey Trooper Princess-
What narcotics have you taken? Ultram (tramadol) is NOT a narcotic. It is a non-narcotic pain reliever for mild to moderate pain. I think the usual adult dose is around 50-100 mgs every 4-6 hours. The way it is similar to narcotics is that it can cause dizziness and drowsiness; however, unlike the narcotics, it does not cause histimine reactions (which I have a huge problem with...I get so itchy with the morphine!!!)
have you tried tylenol 3? what kind of digestive problems do you have? if you get constipated, you should increase your water intake and also take 1-2 stool softeners(it's mineral oil) before going to bed. what kind of pain are you in? aching, burning, stabbing? is the area swollen? what time of the day is it the best/worst??
I would highly suggest you get another doctor for after surgery care. it's your body..why would you gamble with it? if worse comes to worse just make up some excuse about how it was easier to get an appt. with the other guy. OW! My leg is killing me. sorry..I'm just typing exactly what I'm thinking.
Really, don't hesitate to get other opinions. it is not worth gambling with your health. PLUS the vioxx isn't even helping you!!
take care and let us know what you decide-
Dani
