Re: Going to remove thyroid.

Hi k9mom Iwas hyper when I was younger,Had a hot spot, took radiation and now have Hashi with a goiter. The synthroid was not good on my system at all and didn't stop the swelling.(that is one of the reasons the endo put me on it.) He said "this probably wont work but we will give it a shot." It is now so large that everyone looks at it instead of me when I talk. It is starting to effect my swallowing. Thats the reason for removing it. I was able to take synthroid 14 years ago when my problems originaly started but I guess with the age and hyst that I had due to tumors may have changed how my body reacted to it. I do know that I will have to take the meds for the rest of my life but this portion of the problem is so new to me that I think I am reading so much and getting more confused than I need to. When I was hypo I had 2 very small kids and was 21 years old so I didn't pay much attention. It seems to consume me now.
