spondy and the BULGE

okay, so the EMG showed nerve involvement in the cervical region, but the neurologist doesn't think a Microdiscectomy would help. Plus, I have arthritis (spondy) there too. When I bend my neck it doesn't curve right d/t the loss of lordosis, and it bends at the bulge level. It hurts daily and pretty much all the time. I am concerned, if the doc doesn't think the surgery would help, what am I to do? You all know I want to go back to school but so much of my life right now is linked to this neck issue. I won't be able to sit and look at papers b/c it hurts too much (had to take four percocet to make it through the exam I took on Saturday. I also don't sleep well. Nevermind the low back is a all different and just as painful issue, and we are working on that one (discogram, maybe fusion at L4-5 and L5-S1). Anyone have any advice, surgery successes or anything? How do I know if surgery actually may help? But, even if it helps with the nerve issue, what about the spondy? I am trying to get all my thoughts together so I can make a good decision the next time I see the dr, but I need some actual stories to have to make a good one. I would appreciate any and all help you all could pass my way.
Thank You,
melissa
