re: Planning to start a family.

Hi whymelymie. From what I understand, it is recommended that a woman should wait at least six months of being symptom free before trying to get pregnant. I also believe it is advised for her to be on a safe antibiotic throughout the pregnancy.

I suggest contacting the Lyme Disease Foundation and Dr. Chalres Ray Jones in New Haven, CT. The founder of the Lyme Disease Foundation had a healthy baby after she was treated. Dr. Jones is the best Lyme pediatrician and has a lot of experience with Lyme and pregnancy. He could probably advise about treatment and whether or not breastfeeding is safe when the woman is in remission.

It is fantastic that you are feeling well! You are going to be a great mother, because you want to do everything possible to minimize transmission. If possible, please share the information you find out. I am sure it can help others.

Best of luck to you
