Hey Beegie, my husband was awarded ssdi at the reconsideration stage..We didn't retain an attorney.It can take as long as 6 months, I believe..Another adjucator will look at your case, not the same person as before, so it is like starting all over again..We reapplied in December and he was awarded in June...So yes it has taken awhile and it is stressful when u know u or your loved one is disabled and u r waiting on someone to make a decision about u..Just hang in there, it is probably going to be a few more months....I do wish u the best of luck and I hope they award u very soon....
