| Re: Nail Ridges
The ridges you are seeing are natural to the surface of the nail bed. There are grooves on the underside of the nail plate as well. This allows the nail plate to ride forward on the nail bed much like a train rides forward on its tracks.
When the nail plate becomes dried out due to repeated contact with strong solvents (such as household cleaning solutions or excess amounts of water) or due to aging, the ridges become more apparent and be quite deep.
You might try applying a good quality nail and cuticle oil such as Botanical Oil available in teh nail department of Sally Beauty Supply, or Solar Oil available through Ulta COmsetic outlets nationwide. Apply to the nails and massage into the nails and skin at least twice daily, always after having your hands in water and always before bedtime.
