Significant Insect Infection?

I'm looking for a bit of insight into a few odd symptoms that appeared a few days ago. To note, I haven't felt especially ill recently, and even at this point I'm not experiencing any pain or notable discomfort (just feeling a bit "under the weather"). On to the issue at hand: the symptoms began with an odd little rash appearing on my upper wrist. It was about the size of a dime, with a bright pink center and outer ring, and relatively normal skin separating the two. It didn't itch at all, and I figured it was probably just an insect bite. A friend of mine suggested that it resembled a "bullseye" rash, which I confirmed by finding a few pictures online. By late the next day, it had turned into a classic insect-bite - nothing odd about it anymore. It still doesn't itch, and is now a uniform reddish-pink color. However, today I awoke to find that the back of my tongue and throat is seemingly swollen (slightly, not enough to cause respiratory distress) and causes discomfort when eating or talking. I feel like I have a slight flu or virus (you know, that general feeling of "blah") but nothing too striking or painful. Should I check with a doctor, or see if it improves in a few weeks? Have you heard of anything similar to this?
