Unhappy osteomyelitis of 5th metatarsal

After an very botched horrendous bunnionette surgery in june of 06, today I find out after all sorts of complications that the bone is now infected and I have osteomyelitis of the 5th metatarsal.
I have been through many orthopoedic surgeons that don't want to touch my foot to protect their *** as well as the precious surgeons *** that messed me up in the first place.
My options now are 1. scrape out the infected bone and fill it with antibiotic bead (and hope that it does the trick) or 2. removal of the metatarsal head.
I am a very active 28 year old, I play soccer and football and will go nuts if I am off my feet forever, but this constant pain and swelling is killing me.
Anyone out there have either one of these operations done?????
HELP!!!!!!
