Re: Colposcopy and abnormal PAP smear. Please read if you have experience with this.
Last May I also had a PAP that was LGSIL. They wanted me to come back for a colposcopy but there was no need to rush. My doctor said come back within a month for the colpo. If it's LGSIL I don't think it will hurt to wait 3 months as it can take years (up to 10+) for these cellular changes to turn into cancer (if it ever does). It might be a good idea to check with your doctor to see if he/she sees any urgency though.
I just got my PAP results from my 4 month follow-up to my colpo and the PAP is still LGSIL - no change - so I am to follow-up again in 4 more months. So, in my case, if I had waited 3 months to do the colpo, the result would have been the same. My doc also says up to 80% of mild dysplasia cases will clear up on their own within a year.
In the meantime, quitting smoking is a good idea if you can, do all that you can to boost your immune system, i.e. reduce stress in your life, eat healthy, vitamins (lots of info on this board about that), exercise, etc.
Good luck & take care!
