Yes, my upper incision was the one that bothered me the most also. I asked the doc why that one was more tender and he said it was because that was the one they "used" the most. The other two just had instruments stuck in them...with the upper incision they had instruments in and out and stretched the skin more. The shoulder pain is gas and it will go away...if you tell them about the shoulder pain they will tell you to stop taking meds all together...that the reason you are hurting is gas from the surgery and constipation..I know this because it is what I was told after both of my laps. The nurse told me to take Gas X....which did help my shoulder...but did nothing for my incision!
If something doesn't feel right...let them know. Better safe than sorry. As for more pain relief, I will pray they agree. I haven't had luck with pain meds after surgery...they just expect you to take a couple of Lortab and be fine...just live thru the pain...makes no sense.
The only thing I can figure is these crazy docs have convinced themselves taht since the incision is so small that the pain is small as well??? Maybe sweet Dr. needs his appendix out??? I will admit, the pain from my laps were less than traditional surgery...but it was still there...believe me.
