Hello, I can give you info. regarding what I have had done. I have both the facet blocks and the Rhizo. If I am recalling correctly, I had my 1st block and was told that if it did nothing, we would not try again. But if it helped a little bit, we could try a 2nd time...which is what happened. Both times, they lasted a couple of weeks, so the Dr. him w/ my diognosis, but did not use it again for pain releif. Then with the RF, they did a trial, to make sure they got the correct area, and for me, the trial worked 100%. I tried to do many positions that I cause me pain and I had none. So, the next week we did the real RF, but unfortunatly it did not work for more that a few weeks.
Both things are difinatly worth trying. Just know that you may spend more time trying procedures, before you find the 1 that works the best.
As far as you past surgery, what type of surger was it? I had a 1 level fusion and I also had a 2 level fusion. Both caused me a very long recovery time and I was told that I was healing slowly. I know at 90 days I was still in a lot of pain. Although the Drs. were aware that I was recoverying slowly, there was nothing they could really do (or wanted to do) until 1 year post surgery. Unless the problems seemed to be causing permanent damage etc., my Dr. was not going to do anything other than MRI's and Xrays, for that 1st year. However, make sure that your Dr. is always aware of you increased pain. I highly suggest that you rate your pain every AM and PM. Keep a notebook next to your bed and right a # of 1-10, just as you get up and lay down at night. If you can remember, any day that was esspecially worse than others, jot down what yu did that day. Then type it up and take it with you to your appnts. If the pain is getting worse and you aren't doing anything differently, they should be ordering an MRI to make sure you haven't caused anyone damage to your spine.
I hope this has helped a little. Let me know what surgery you had 90 days ago.
