Re: father just diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma 07/31/07. age 63

this is such an awful disease and the best thing you can do for your father is support his decision in regards to treatment, thankfully for him he has the choice, my nanna passed away on valentines day this year after battling with mesothilioma for 6 months...she never had the option for treatment as hers was in the lining of her lung, which her doctor said was inoperable. having seen my nanna go through the torture which is methosilioma, my heart truly goes out to you and your family. this is possibly the hardest thing any of you will ever experience and the best advice i can give is to stay strong for your father, but still take the time to look after yourself...you need to care for you to care for him, and be prepared for sudden changes in his condition, this illness takes over very quickly. and in regards to other members of your family who may have came into contact with the asbestos that has caused your fathers illness, look into diet, a lot can be done with diet to eliminate the free radicals in your system, the more fresh fruit, veg (preferably raw) and unprocessed foods your diet contains, the more ability your body will have to fight off cancer causing substance before it actually turns into cancer. i hope your father makes the right decision for himself, and hopefully recovers well
