For the past 2 years, I have had stomach problems that began as a nuisance and have turned into a major pain in butt... or stomach. It began merely as belching a lot, which turned into diarrhea and belching all day, which eventually turned into burping all day, chronic, daily diarrhea (sometimes upwards of 15 times a day, bloody stool, severe abdominal cramping, frequent severe headaches, joint numbness, nausea, and sometimes vomiting. Well, after 2 years of putting it off, I finally decided to figure out what the hell was wrong with me. Long story short, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 colon cancer and as my doc said, "a particularly nasty case of Barrett's Esophagus." I had over 30 polyps, 2 very large malignant ones. I also have several polyps in my small intestine, duodenum, and stomach. I am only 29 years old. I was sent from a GI doc, to the University of Iowa. The University docs sent me to Mayo. I've had tons of blood work done, CT scans, abdominal ultrasounds, colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, capsules endoscopies, breath tests, EKGs, rads, etc. The docs at the University suspect that I also had a bacterial infection in the small intestine that was causing all of my stomach discomfort, but tests came back negative. Then they said maybe I have IBS. Sweet! The folks at Mayo felt like that my biggest concern would be having a total colectomy first, with hopes that some of my symptoms would dissipate following the surgery. My surgery is scheduled for a month from now.

My question is this... does anyone have colon cancer along with Barrett's. If so, are your symptoms similar to mine? I'm hoping that all of my symptoms are coming from only these 2 things, and not a third. I'm so tired of feeling sick, and I'd just love to hear that someone has had this problem and ended up feeling better. Thanks for reading.
